The artwork has an interesting colorization and style, one I think those in the age group intended for this GN, as well as beyond it, will enjoy. ![]() I also liked watching the chemistry between the characters unfold for each bit story. They revolve around Lou's day-to-day encounters, including crushing on a boy in her neighborhood, somewhat embarrassing, yet grand moments at school, family contentions (including a stern grandmother who shows her gentle side in unexpected moments), among other events. The GN is mostly a series of one-shot stories (some of them are continuous because of the cast of characters and some recurring jokes). ![]() She sports an interest in fashion, has a mother who's a die-hard video game addict, and a best friend (Mina) who's usually grouchy, but not afraid to stand up for Lou and speak her mind on a number of different things. It's a children's/middle-grade graphic novel that's about a girl named Lou who chronicles her daily adventures and interests in a series of comic panels taken from her diary. Lou #1 Secret Diary is probably one of the most adorable and awesome GNs I've had the pleasure to read. ![]()
